While on my walk-n-pray this morning the Lord brought my daughter’s heart to mind. He said that the enemy was currently speaking a few lies into her life. He went on to whisper that the lies are stealing her identity and at this precise moment she is weak and overwhelmed by her busy life. In this weakness, her heart is grasping onto them as though they are truth.
While walking in the vineyards, I heard Holy Spirit whisper to me, “Call her this minute and tell her the truth.”
“But Lord, she is never awake at this time in the morning.”
“Hello, Mom is that you?”
“Baby girl, I’m so glad you answered. What are you doing?”
“I have eight minutes before I have to be at work.” She works on campus in the office of BIOLA college admissions in California.
I rush to explain my call and yet approach my purpose with gentleness and covered with love, “Honey, in my prayer time I heard the Lord tell me that you have been believing a lie and I’m calling to pray for you.”
“Okay?” Apprehension apparent in her voice.
“The Lord showed me that you have been watching your girlfriends at school. They are the center of attention and often they receive invitations to parties and are asked out on dates. The Lord allowed me to understand that you are caught in comparing yourself to them and the devil is using their lives to speak defeat and hopelessness into your soul.”
I went on to say, “The enemy has told you that you are never pretty enough. That you aren’t worthy of love. He has hinted that there will never be a man for you. The darkness has covered your mind with thoughts that you are always the one who is left out, unchosen and undesirable. He has lied about your character, your physical beauty and has put poison into your thoughts about your future.”
“Is this true?”
In a humble and honest voice, she replies, “Yes, mom. I have been struggling in this area.”
“Now let me tell you what the Lord says is true. You are NOT less than. And it is a lie that you are undesirable or will never have a boyfriend. It is the deception of the enemy that no one will ever love you. That no one will choose you. The enemy is speaking lies that you will always feel lonely and unworthy.”
“In fact, the Lord says He has a man for you and in the perfect timing he will arrive. He will sweep you off your feet. He will fulfill the areas of love and friendship that you have been praying for. He will be quirky and fun and weird and absolutely right for you. God has heard your prayers and you are adored. The future He has prepared is SO BIG for you that the party girls will be amazed. You are His heart’s desire. And as of this minute, you are to stop the comparison and believe the truth.”
“My beautiful daughter, I pray that right now God will bring this man before you. That you will meet him in the season of holidays in the next few months. I pray that you will rest in the truth that you are chosen of God and do not need to compare yourself to the lives of others. I bless you today with hope. With laughter, giggles and a peace of spirit. I bless you with all and more as your mom. In Jesus name. AMEN”
“Do you feel better?”
“Yes, Mom. Thank you.”
Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. —Psalms 37:4
I clicked off the phone and then contemplated this conversation with the Lord. He said to me, “Lynn, this is the fear of every young woman and comparison is stealing so much from my beloved daughters.”
I walked along and prayed for every beloved daughter, “Lord I cry out for every woman, touch and heal the unloved places in every heart.”
He replied, “I Am.”
If you are in a place of defeat, fear and/or comparison, well, you aren’t alone. And I would be honored to cry out with you today to our merciful Father, Leave your name and what you want to cry out in the comments. I will pray with you and together we will expect our Great King to move and heal the unloved places in our hearts.
I love you,
