“A new year, a new me.” Here we go again. Every year, for probably the last thirty-five years or so, I have rung in the New Year either saying this or hearing others say it. This year I did something different. I decided that I don’t need to be a new me for 2017. I just need to be the best me. Will I try to lose a few pounds? Well, yes I will. Will I try new and challenging things? Well, yes I will. But the really big thing is that I am not going to go into the New Year letting anyone but me define me – and that includes the date on the calendar.
I have curly hair – VERY curly hair – and I am not going to straighten it unless it makes me feel better.
I like to sing – I am a terrible singer – trust me I am! – but this year I am going to stop lip-sinking the music in church – I am just going to sing. I am truly sorry for those around me – but it has to be done :).
