Taking time out from the busyness of life can be very hard. I struggle with this daily. I have learned over the years that taking time for REST is just as important as feeding our bodies healthy food, drinking plenty of water, getting exercise and fresh air. Why is it so hard? Well, I think as a mom, wife and caregiver it can make me feel guilty as if I’m being selfish or not giving enough to my loved ones. Well let me tell you friends, that is a lie!
The Truth is to be the best we can be, we totally need some rest, and more than we think. I’ve heard that in Europe they have to take four weeks off from work for mandatory rest. And they still get paid! (that would be nice!) When I think of the times I was forced to rest it was either having a baby, an injury or recovering from surgery. As I am currently recovering from a knee injury, I am forced to rest once again. (Sigh!)
Some ways of rest that I enjoy are going to the beach and just watching the waves roll in as the warm sun touches me and the warm sea breeze gently hits my face and the smell of the sea dances in my nose. This is one of my favorites! I love reading a good book, journaling, watching a movie (although, if it’s action packed, thriller-type; it’s hard for me to rest, so I go for the funny, light ones). Floating, (seriously google it), a super awesome way to totally disconnect from the entire world, sixty to ninety minutes with no electronics or anything! Just floating in water that’s full of healing salts, it’s like you are floating in space! Getting a massage, or a pedicure. Taking a warm bubble bath and just breathing in some favorite essential oils. Going outside in the daytime and looking at nature. Going outside in the dark and laying on my back looking up at the stars and just being in awe or dreaming about the future and what can and will be!
Okay, I saved the best for last! It’s my favorite! I learned about a year ago how to soak. Soaking with Jesus is the BEST! When you soak in the presence of God you are in a place of rest and you are allowing the Holy Spirit to minister to you. Intimate connection full of grace, kindness, healing and closeness with Daddy. You start in a quiet place, clear your mind, focus on Jesus , connect with the Spirit of the Lord and allow Holy Spirit to minister to you, get comfy, lay down to rest and listen to any worship music, my favorites are Julie True, beautiful voice! And Graham Cooke, his words are soothing and is as if God is speaking right to your heart. you can take a little time or as long as you want.
“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.”
Connect With Jesus is a good learning site with tips on soaking.
Resting in Him,
Daniella Ross, is loved and adored by the most high God. She is blessed with a husband of 22 years and four amazing boys. A proud Air Force, college bound, high school and elementary mom. (all bases covered)
At the young age of 41, Daniella’s mother suffered a massive stroke, which sparked in her a passion for health and fitness. Since then, she has become an inspiration to many by leading fitness classes all over the Temecula Valley in Southern California. Daniella competed in her first fitness competition at Muscle Beach, and took 4th place.
Daniella enjoys her quiet time with JESUS, the beach, play time with her family, date nights with hubby and, girls outings with friends (she needs these as she is in a house full of testosterone!)
She recently moved her mom into her home to care for her which is quite an adjustment for her and the family. Daniella has a heart to help others to be free and healthy in mind, body, and soul. Her vision is to have others experience freedom in Jesus. She hopes to help them reach levels they can only dream about.
