Everyone has experienced that sickening feeling in their stomachs when they realize they’re lost.
In the late 1930’s, my Dad was about five years of age, and he separated from his mother at the county fair in the Bay Area. Locating a police officer was an obvious choice. After all, he was a child of a Police Sergeant-and so his trek began. Feeling a rumble in his tummy, he was drawn to the Planter’s Peanut character roller skating around, with his dapper black top hat and clever monocle. He was handing out samples of delicious roasted peanuts. To my Dad’s delight, Mr. Peanut gave him several samples and held his little hand as they both sought to find help. He was still lost, but at least he wasn’t hungry anymore! After a short while, they found a police officer. The policeman stooped down to ask the young child about his parents and laughed with delight when he realize this bright-eyed innocent kid was Ernie’s youngest boy, Georgie. This was his Sergeant’s child! The officer couldn’t resist buying him a huge ice cream cone and chatted with the lost boy about how he loved and respected his father. For a moment my Dad wasn’t feeling panicked as he licked his cone and was comforted by his Father’s coworker. Knowing that Georgie’s mom was probably frantically searching for her boy he began asking some important questions. “Georgie what does your mother look like?”
“Well,” he expressed, quite matter of factly, as drips of sticky chocolate ice cream smeared across his chin. “She’s tall, has a polka-dot red dress on, and has BIG brown eyes like a cow!” No sooner after he had described his mom, the officer spotted a crazed, wide-eyed woman coming towards them. Little Georgie was carrying his bag of peanuts in one hand and ice cream in the other while embracing his grateful and relieved mom explaining, “Mommy I knew what to do, I found an officer and told him what you looked like.”
The officer chuckled as he exclaimed, “Georgie described you perfectly!”
I see the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises! My body rests in hope. Acts 2:25-26
We too, at one time, are spiritually lost and in need of a Savior. When we accept Christ into our heart we receive an inheritance! As believers we become sons and daughters of the Most High! Our Heavenly Papa continues to love us extravagantly!
He is so generous and gives us good gifts and makes Himself known to us. In fact, there’s nothing that can ever separate us from His lavish, unending and perfect love. We have a Papa who is intimate and loves to talk, bless and dream with His kids! The King of Kings who adores His kids so much that he sings to them as they sleep.
The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
He lovingly guides His kids, as well as fights His kid’s battles. As a compassionate and caring Papa, He provides and never forsakes them. He makes all things new and makes us His prince and princess. He is a tender loving Shepherd who will leave a flock to bring you back to safety if you choose to wander. We are His beloved kids who have no need to worry because Papa wants to carry His kid’s burdens.
He is also so in tune with His kids that He knows what they need even before they ask! A Papa who is always in a good mood and who is never disappointed with us or gets fed up! A Papa who doesn’t have a favorite kid; we are all His treasures!
An attentive Papa who is so fun-loving and joyful and knows what makes us laugh for He has an awesome sense of humor! A compassionate Papa who provides shelter from the storms in life and restoration when we feel broken. He’s ever-present to comfort his kids and even keeps their tears in a bottle!
You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.
He brings true freedom in all areas of our lives! He is always faithful and even knew us in our mother’s womb. Our names are written on His palm and Papa God knows how many hairs are on His kid’s head! He thinks of His kids more than all the grains of sand! A Papa who keeps all His promises and even calls us friend!
Knowing and believing all these truths we are never lost! I know my Papa and hear His voice I’m NEVER alone but would be lost without Him!
