Studies have found that people who were more grateful actually have better heart health, specifically, less inflammation and healthier heart rhythms. Gratitude can also boost your immune system, Research shows that when we think about what we appreciate, the parasympathetic (calming part of the nervous system) is triggered and that can have protective benefits on the body, including decreasing cortisol levels and perhaps increasing oxytocin – the bonding hormone involved in relationships that make us feel good.
So many things can happen when we focus on what we are thankful for. It causes our minds to not focus or dwell on the negative. It sets our minds up for positive thoughts, which, in return, causes our body and soul to run better. Healthy mind, body and soul is something to be thankful for. When we are not healthy it’s more than likely because our mind wasn’t thinking in a healthy manner. Negative thinking causes depression, anxiety, fear, hurt, resentment etc. It also snowballs on us, the longer we think in the negative the sicker we become. On the contrary when we have a thankful heart and mind it produces health.
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
