I enjoy serving God’s people, both in the house of God and outside the walls in the trenches. I try to love and encourage the very anointed and the beaten and broken down outside the church walls.
There is a voice that says, “Do more, look at all that could be accomplished if you do more! You are not serving enough, get more involved, help, serve, serve, serve! Do MORE!’ But that is not God’s voice. That’s the voice of the world that says, “You are not enough. If you do all these wonderful things you will be a better person.” My Jesus does not say that and that should not be my priority. I am called to obey this command, “To follow Him and love the Lord my God with all my heart, all my soul, all my strength, and all my mind, and love my neighbor as myself.”
A woman named Martha welcomed Jesus into her house and she had a sister called Mary, WHO SAT AT THE LORD’S FEET AND LISTENED TO HIS TEACHING. But Martha was DISTRACTED with much serving. She went up to him and said, “Lord do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary HAS CHOSEN THE GOOD PORTION , which will not be taken from her.” Luke 10:38-42
Martha was anxious; Jesus’ words are, “DO NOT BE ANXIOUS” and she was troubled, DO NOT BE TROUBLED!
I am NOT saying do not work hard and serve, Jesus calls for us to pray for laborers for the harvest.. we need laborers.. but do check yourself. Try to choose the GOOD PORTION first.
Sit, listen… what is He teaching you through His Spirit today?
At His Feet,
